- 조사목적 : 정신질환 유병률 현황 및 위험요인, 사회인구학적 분포, 관련 요인등을 파악하여 정신보건 정책 수립을 위한 기초 자료를 생산
- 법적근거 : 정신건강복지법 제10조(실태조사)
- 국가통계승인번호 : 제117050호
- 조사실시기간 : 2021년 6월 ~ 2021년 8월
- 조사방법 : 태블릿 PC를 사용하여 대면조사
- 최종응답 : 만 18세 이상 ~ 만 79세 이하, 총 5,511명(가구당 1명)

- 1.조사명 : 기존-정신질환상태조사 -> 변경-정신건강실태조사
- 2.조사방법 : 기존-종이설문지조사 -> 변경-태블릿PC를 이용한 조사
- 3.조사대상 : 기존-만 18세이상 일반 국민(5,102명) -> 변경-만 18세 이상 만 79세 이하 일반 국민 (5,511명)
- 4.조사항목 : 기존-2016년 조사항목에서 -> 변경-조현병 스펙트럽 장애, 양극성 장애 제외함

- Survey period : June 2021 to August 2021
- Survey method : Face-to-face survey using a tablet PC
- Final response : A total of 5,511 respondents, 18~79 years old (1 person per household)
